8ch bough this to my attention today "Oxford City Council will be urged to put its hand in its pocket to buy up the boarded-up Jericho boatyard site in order to bring it back to life"

I can't remember the Jericho boatyard story. I suppose the bottom line is whether it closed because of lack of business - if so you can't expect anyone to take it on. If not, and the closure was due to the sort of 'short-term capitalism cocking up' factors you sometimes see, well, there's hope.
