To sofa or to not sofa

I have done quite a few changes on the boat over the last month or so and now I am getting to the point where it is time to think about the internal furniture. Anyone that knows my boat knows I have a sofa, but it isn't quite right - especially since the second mattress/back went missing. The sofa is actually a bed made for me by a friend. It dismantles very quickly and stores very easily, but I want a double bed, not a single one. So, I have been thinking about the possibility of a sofa bed.
Having spent a few days looking at other peoples, and in the various shops I think I want a two seater. The question is whether places like Elite furnishings and Wilsons of Kinver are better than places like IKEA. The merits of buying something from a narrowboat specialist is they have the life of a narrowboat in mind, but is the price difference between the high street and the specialists really the quality and longevity of the product or just the monopoly on the market?

It has to be a sofa bed, it has to be small, but it HAS to be comfortable.

If you can find one in IKEA, go for it! main thing to watch is that it will go through the front doors.

Good luck

Bones, Hello!!
Very happy with my sofa bed from Wilsons.
Kinver ones have the advantage of being a bit higher off the ground but when I looked the cushion set up was a bit lumpy.
The really neat thing is that as you have seen on CM, you can move it so it faces any way--bakk, front or to the side

Whoops! I meant Elite ones are higher but potentially lumpy

I tried a futon/sofa awhile back. It collapsed to a double bed but was unstable to sleep in as one person because the edge of the bed wobbled without the counter balance of another body. Sleeping in the middle failed because when the futon mattress compressed the center hinge was hard and uncomfortable. The futon mattress drooped when in an upright position and was way to heavy for me to turn on my own. Eventually the wear and tear of the 'put up and down' caused it to collapse at an unfortunate moment.

So I now have a decadent bed with a moter which raises me to any position I choose. Except for the 'turning over and giving me a seeing to' position. Sofa beds are always a compromise.

Its the issue of "is it too big to go through the front doors" that concerns me.
