Camera 1million and 1

Honey Rider asked me about my camera, and I can still say that I am chewing the cud and deliberating. I have been learning a bit, but I forgot what Bottle told me about lenses... is a zeiss ok? If so, I will probably go for the cybershot one that is about 129.99 the only thing is lacks in comparison to my chums camera is a face focusing thingy whatsit, but I don't think I mind that.

Yes cupcake, Zeiss are one of the best, although Sony probably make their own under licence.

Optical zoom is better than digital zoom.

I agree with Moley about Zeiss.

Gosh - the mole reads the blog! Hurrah!

Optical zoom seems to be on all of the models these days - 3x.

I just have to work out what the difference is between 129.99, 149.99 and 169.99 pounds. It seems to be ISO

I have found that 3x optical zoom is not enough but that 5 mg pixel is more then enough for my use. Miss T's camera ( on loan to me) is the bigger version of mine has 10x zoom and is just right. However her camera like mine is in dire need of servicing.

I am not sure why Miss T thinks I am ungrateful as I think hers is the better camera. I did forget to say that my son has a very, very nice camera but I find it's heavy weight and large size is not easy to carry around.

Difference in price will mostly be features, that you, probably, will not need.

Try to get greater than 3X optical zoom.

ISO, if you do not already know, is the 'speed' of the camera, higher the number ie, 400, 800, 1600, the darker it can be before needing flash.

There maybe a drop off in quality, for instance, my camera, normally 'takes' photo's at 3m pixels but at 1600 it will only take them at 1m.

It is fairly old now and been superceded at least twice.

Hi Bones

Have a look for the Sony DSCS800 this is available via Amazon/pixmania for £136 it has 8.1 Mpixels and 6X optical zoom and 12X digital, on board memory of 56Mb (I guess about 12 photo's) but a 2Gb memory stick pro duo is only about £17.

This is not a recommendation just to show you that what you need is out there.

Gosh - bottle - that is exactly the sort of thing I like!!! Could you make it into a recommendation, then I can go and buy it!!! =o)

Decision making never was my forte... but that looks good - I like the size too!!!!

I only didn't recommend it because I have not seen it in the flesh.

I did see on Amazon one of the 'right ups' from customers said it was to big for their pocket, that and the above is the only reason for not recommending and also if it is not suitable, you cannot blame me.

Have a walk round the camera shops in the city, you do not have to buy from them.
